The center will be closed for shopping and donations from Monday, December 22 through Thursday, January 1. Community Volunteering sessions will be held as scheduled during the closure. We will reopen for our normal operating hours on Friday, January 2.

ACR is excited to announce our show at the Dougherty Arts Center: Reuse on the Runway: The Exhibit.
Can fashion be both stunning and sustainable? This show reveals the answer. Experience highlights from ACR's 2025 fashion show, where artists renew and transform materials – fabric remnants, architectural samples, pop tabs, ticket stubs, newspapers, and more – into extraordinary creations. Explore the ingenuity of upcycled fashion design, challenging conventions and inspiring a future where creativity and conservation collide.

Neighborhood Litter Clean-Up
Join Austin Creative Reuse and Keep Austin Beautiful for a neighborhood litter clean-up! We’ll meet at our center (2005 Wheless Ave) then split into groups to pick up trash at various sites around the neighborhood.

Cleanup supplies will be provided on-site. If you prefer you may bring your own gloves.
When picking up litter, Keep Austin Beautiful recommends participants do so responsibly and at their comfort level.
Youth Volunteers: All volunteers under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. Independent registrations submitted by minors are not permitted.

Join artists from LUPE Arte at ACR for this two day workshop where grandparents and grandchildren (ages 8-14) are invited to collaborate on a comic book strip! Work side-by-side to learn essential comic book techniques, from panel layout and character design to creating a complete narrative strip. You'll be using sustainable materials provided by LUPE Arte.

Our Community Volunteer days are a time for anyone who would like to lend a hand come in and volunteer. Quilting Fabric is sorting through boxes of quilting fabric by size and pattern. Bonus, you’ll get first dibs on the goods before they hit the floor!

Community Volunteering: Freestyle Fabrics
Come join us for a fun afternoon volunteering and connecting with other members of your community! You will help us process some of our "specialty" fabric! We will measure, roll and price material like silk, minky, batting, linen and much more. One of the best parts is that you get first look at all our amazing fabric to buy too!

Holiday Reuse Art Market
Join ACR for our 6th Annual Holiday Reuse Art Market on Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7 from 11AM-4PM each day, featuring holiday shopping, free activities and family fun!
There will be over 50 unique vendors and multiple activities each day, including five-minute volunteering, adoptable dogs, eco-friendly crafts, games and more!

Our Community Volunteer days are a time for anyone who would like to lend a hand come in and volunteer. Join us in creating hand stitched dog toys for animals currently residing in local shelters. No experience required - we’ll show you what to do!

FREE Make & Take: Origami
Learn to make beautiful origami to compliment your gifts and daily life! Paper can be more versatile and functional than plastic and zhuzh up anyone's routine. Reusing junk mail, left over magazines, and even cardboard can beautify and satisfy. You can send a message to the people in your life with the gift of time when you gift your origami.
Join Kelly (she/her) in our community space (next to the Office Section) to play with pretty paper and practice origami! This is a FREE drop-in event, so you can stop by anytime between 12-3PM to participate.
